Hasta is from 10:00 to 23:19 of Virgo. It is where all of that power of that kingdom which came in through Aryaman and Uttara Phalguni now becomes moved around and manifested in a very beautiful form.

Hasta – Hand- Video

Deity: Savitur (Aditya)

Sign(s)/Degrees: 10:00 – 23:19 Virgo

Ruler: Moon

Symbol: Hand

Story: Hasta literally means “hand” and the symbol is an open hand. It shows where we have skilled hands which are related to action and karma.

There is not a lot of attachment in Hasta. It is where we can delight in doing God’s work in the highest sense. When we see our hand as God’s hand, which means our hand doing God’s work, then it becomes service. It is that part of Virgo that is very service oriented naturally and very much about wanting to see that everyone is comfortable and is manifesting here on Earth.

The deity of Hasta is called Savitur. The very famous mantra to Savitur is called the Gayatri mantra. Gayatri is a mantra of manifestation and a worldly life. If you want wealth or you have a problem with your home or any kind of thing in your worldly life, the Gayatri mantra is a great one.

This whole section of the zodiac is really populated by a lot of deities that are called the Adityas. Remember that the Nakshatra of Punarvasu was ruled by a god called Aditi, the mother of the Adityas. Those were the deities that protect the Earth and one of them is Savitur.

That is really what this section of the zodiac is about. Bagha, Aryaman, Savitur and the next deity called Vishwa Karma — these are all Adityas who are about manifesting and building a life of beauty which is what the Adityas are about. They are solar deities that are meant to give manifestation. In some ways, one of the most important, is Savitur. We say his mantra, the Gayatri mantra, when we want to manifest things in our life.

Hasta literally means “hand” and it brings the power into your hands so that you can manifest your heart’s desire and make a beautiful world to live in.
